Move better, feel better, live better!

Meet The Pilates Way Team

Lizzi - Teacher/Studio owner

Lizzi Webb is one of the most formally qualified and experienced Pilates teachers in the Northern Territory with 15 years of teaching and 20,000 hours under her belt. She initially began Pilates in Sydney in 1999 to complement her dance studies. Training in both mat and equipment based repertoire she found the core principles of the Pilates method aligned beautifully with those of dance to enhance technique and performance. It also proved to be a successful measure for injury prevention.  she was also voted 'Best Pilates Instructor in the Northern Territory' (NT News, January, 2023).

Professional Values

Lizzi has a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (2009) from one of Australia's leading Pilates institutions Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesInt) and a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (2021, Charles Darwin University). She is a member of Australia's key peak industry bodies including the Pilates Association Australia and AusActive for which she is required to maintain high professional standards and undertake ongoing skills development through accredited courses and workshops. She was also a council member of the Australian Pilates Method Association (2020 - 2022) and Advocacy Subcommittee (2019 - 2021).

Lizzi has taught Pilates full-time since completing her teacher training and has worked in specialised studios, physiotherapy practices and corporate environments, for both fitness and rehabilitation across Australia and overseas. Having taught in a number of different environments and context’s Lizzi has come to appreciate the diversity of people that come into Pilates. In her teaching Lizzi aims to address the different goals of each client, whether it’s rehabilitation from injury or physical conditioning for an athlete. No two people are the same and neither are their bodies and it is this challenge that keeps Lizzi constantly intrigued in her work. Using the fundamental principles of Pilates as a baseline Lizzi works with each individual client to identify personal ‘Pilates goals’ and develop strategies to achieve them.

Tristan - Mat Teacher/Studio Teacher (Trainee)

An aircraft engineer for 17 years and a movement background in bodyweight strength training and hand balancing, Tristan was first introduced to Pilates in 2016 when, after finding no relief for a back/hip injury, he found his way to The Pilates Way. Surprised and encouraged by the results Pilates made to his injury, and how well it synergised with his hand balancing and strength training, he continued his practice until he began as assistant instructor with Lizzi in 2021. Now, having left aviation and completed a degree in food and nutrition (with a focus on biochemistry) and a diploma in Pilates instruction; he aims to combine the efficacy of Pilates based movement with evidence based nutrition in a pragmatic approach to health. Tristan is also a member of the Pilates Australia Association.

Alex - Mat Teacher/Studio Teacher

Alex first discovered Pilates in 2011 after being referred by her physio to rehabilitate several herniated discs in her back.

"My body slowly got stronger and started being able to hold me up so I could move confidently, and I was finally able to sit in a chair to eat my dinner after many months not being able to"

She continued her practice at home and in specialised studio’s eventually pursing Pilates as a profession initially with Body Organics and later with Pilates International Training Centre (currently finalising her studies for a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction). She has also been teaching mat and reformer classes at Encore Pilates since 2022 and is a member of the Pilates Association of Australia. In her ‘other life’ Alex is an experienced Librarian and enjoys cycling, walking, singing, dancing, binge watching a good series and relishes reading a good book. Do not be fooled by her gentle nature, she has a keen eye for movement detail (and has been called ‘the silent basher’) in the studio!
